Dr.
Chris Mayhorn is an Assistant Professor in the Ergonomics/Experimental
Psychology program at North Carolina State University. Dr. Mayhorn recently
assumed his current academic post following the completion of a Postdoctoral
Fellowship at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D.
in 1999
from the University of Georgia where he graduated from the Cognitive/Experimental
Psychology program and specialized in the field of Gerontology.
Dr. Mayhorn’s
diverse research interests and experience include areas such as
product warnings, human-computer interaction, and applied cognition.
He recently
developed a paradigm to investigate a memory phenomenon associated with
older
adults’ non-adherence to medication regimens. He also conducted
focus groups to
determine how older adult perceive and comply with warning information
provided on
household products. Dr. Mayhorn has collaborated with numerous researchers
to
develop training materials to teach older adults how to acquire basic
computer
skills and how to use the World Wide Web.
Dr. Mayhorn
teaches courses that include Research Methodology, Statistics,
Perception, Cognitive, and Introduction to Psychology. He is currently
the faculty
advisor for the North Carolina State University Student Chapter of the
Human
Factors and Ergonomics Society.
