Dr.
Samuel Brody is Assistant Professor of Environmental Planning in the
Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning at Texas A&M
University. He is an Executive Committee and Advisory Board member of
the
University’s Sustainable Coastal Margins Program (SCMP) as well
as a faculty
fellow at the Hazard Reduction & Recovery Center.
Dr. Brody’s research focuses on collaborative ecosystem planning,
coastal
management, environmental dispute resolution, spatial analysis, and
natural
hazards mitigation. He has published articles on ecosystem management
in
Florida, stakeholder participation in natural hazards mitigation, and
the role of
resource-based industries in collaborative natural resource management.
His
most recent research uses Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to
analyze
the mosaic of management across ecological systems and facilitate collaborative
approaches to environmental planning.
Dr. Brody has recently (2003/2004) been awarded an NSF Career Award
to examine
the relationship between wetland development and coastal flooding.
